CHAPTER 9

They hopped out of the van and walked to the front door. Todd stood at the door.

“Hey Dad! This is Carmen.” He smiled and shook her hand.

“I know you! So nice to have you here. We have a lovely roast. We have garlic potatoes and we have pudding.” Paul grinned.

“Now that is just dandy!” Claire giggled.

“Granddad! We made the garlic potatoes! And the pudding!” He leaned down and kissed her. He picked her up.

“No you couldn’t have!” Claire giggled and cuddled Todd.

“But we did!” Todd grinned and nodded.

Mandy walked through.

“Come on in!” Mandy gasped and held her hands up to her face.

“Doctor Ferguson! Come in! Come in!” Carmen smiled.

“Good to see you Mrs. Andrews.” Paul smiled.

“Do you know one another?” Mandy nodded.

“Carmen is my Doctor!” They all walked through.

“Lunch is ready. We can go to the dining room.” They all walked through. Paul put Grant in his pram. They all sat down and Carmen dished up for herself, Claire and Paul. Mandy watched and smiled.

“So I believe Charles is moving out and maybe in with you.” Paul nodded. Charles nodded and smiled.

“Gift and I are splitting up. No hard feelings or anything. When someone asks for space. They don’t mean space. I don’t agree with space. You either want me or you don’t. End of.” Todd nodded and smiled.

“Gran we. Grant and I.” Issy smiled as she remembered the little correction earlier.

“We are coming over on Tuesday because Mommy and Daddy are going on a date.” Carmen smiled. Mandy smiled.

“Yes I believe so. And Mommy needs to tell us when to feed Grant. And what time he has his bath and what time you have your shower.” Claire nodded.

“When he waves or his foot is in the air then he is awake.” Todd smiled and nodded.

“And then in the night time.” Carmen corrected her.

“In the evening.” Claire nodded.

“In the evening and we are going to eat then he wakes up and has his bath. And then his milk. And then his nappy. And then he sleeps again.” Todd chuckled and nodded.

“So Tuesday?” Paul smiled and nodded.

“Why don’t you leave the tots and fetch them in the morning? Rather than fetching them late at night. Then you can go out and enjoy. Have a night on the town.” Carmen looked at Paul.

“Up to you babe.” Carmen smiled and nodded.

“Might be better.” Paul nodded. Carmen looked at Todd.

“Are you sure?” Mandy and Todd both nodded.

“Absolutely! We don’t mind.” Carmen smiled and nodded. Paul slowly moved his hand and took hers in to his.

“Then yes. Thank you. But we will collect them in the morning. And then straight to school.” Mandy nodded and smiled.

“We will have them ready.” Carmen smiled and nodded.

Claire almost beamed. She had such a big smile. Mandy looked over.

“And are those your new clothes?” Claire nodded.

“Grant slept in his leggys.”

“Very pretty sweetheart. I love the green.”

“Mommy bought them for us.” Mandy smiled and nodded.

Issy walked through with the tray of coffee and their pudding. Todd sighed.

“Compliments to the chef.
