CHAPTER 9
They hopped out of the van and walked to the front door. Todd stood at the door.
âHey Dad! This is Carmen.â He smiled and shook her hand.
âI know you! So nice to have you here. We have a lovely roast. We have garlic potatoes and we have pudding.â Paul grinned.
âNow that is just dandy!â Claire giggled.
âGranddad! We made the garlic potatoes! And the pudding!â He leaned down and kissed her. He picked her up.
âNo you couldnât have!â Claire giggled and cuddled Todd.
âBut we did!â Todd grinned and nodded.
Mandy walked through.
âCome on in!â Mandy gasped and held her hands up to her face.
âDoctor Ferguson! Come in! Come in!â Carmen smiled.
âGood to see you Mrs. Andrews.â Paul smiled.
âDo you know one another?â Mandy nodded.
âCarmen is my Doctor!â They all walked through.
âLunch is ready. We can go to the dining room.â They all walked through. Paul put Grant in his pram. They all sat down and Carmen dished up for herself, Claire and Paul. Mandy watched and smiled.
âSo I believe Charles is moving out and maybe in with you.â Paul nodded. Charles nodded and smiled.
âGift and I are splitting up. No hard feelings or anything. When someone asks for space. They donât mean space. I donât agree with space. You either want me or you donât. End of.â Todd nodded and smiled.
âGran we. Grant and I.â Issy smiled as she remembered the little correction earlier.
âWe are coming over on Tuesday because Mommy and Daddy are going on a date.â Carmen smiled. Mandy smiled.
âYes I believe so. And Mommy needs to tell us when to feed Grant. And what time he has his bath and what time you have your shower.â Claire nodded.
âWhen he waves or his foot is in the air then he is awake.â Todd smiled and nodded.
âAnd then in the night time.â Carmen corrected her.
âIn the evening.â Claire nodded.
âIn the evening and we are going to eat then he wakes up and has his bath. And then his milk. And then his nappy. And then he sleeps again.â Todd chuckled and nodded.
âSo Tuesday?â Paul smiled and nodded.
âWhy donât you leave the tots and fetch them in the morning? Rather than fetching them late at night. Then you can go out and enjoy. Have a night on the town.â Carmen looked at Paul.
âUp to you babe.â Carmen smiled and nodded.
âMight be better.â Paul nodded. Carmen looked at Todd.
âAre you sure?â Mandy and Todd both nodded.
âAbsolutely! We donât mind.â Carmen smiled and nodded. Paul slowly moved his hand and took hers in to his.
âThen yes. Thank you. But we will collect them in the morning. And then straight to school.â Mandy nodded and smiled.
âWe will have them ready.â Carmen smiled and nodded.
Claire almost beamed. She had such a big smile. Mandy looked over.
âAnd are those your new clothes?â Claire nodded.
âGrant slept in his leggys.â
âVery pretty sweetheart. I love the green.â
âMommy bought them for us.â Mandy smiled and nodded.
Issy walked through with the tray of coffee and their pudding. Todd sighed.
âCompliments to the chef.
